From 1st April 2015 it is a contractual requirement for practices to publish on their practice website, by the end of the financial year (i.e. 31st March 2016), the mean earnings for all GPs in their practice relating to the previous financial year (i.e. 2014/15).
If patients do not have internet access and ask to see this information, contractors are required to provide this information either in paper form, on a poster or by showing the patient the information posted on the practice website.
All earnings reported are pre-tax, National Insurance (NI) and employee pension contributions and for contractors the figures are net of practice expenses incurred.
The mean GP earnings figure is calculated to include income for all contractors (all GPs who are party to the contract for at least six months in the financial year), salaried and locum GPs who worked full or part-time in the practice (for a total of six months or more within the 2014/15 financial year). GPs that work eight sessions or more are considered full time, and any GPs working less than this are considered part time.
All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.
The average pay for GPs working in the Practice of Dr Skinner and Partners in the last financial year was £41,575 before tax and National Insurance. This is for 6 part time GPs who worked in the practice for more than six months.
